At a bar, Dinma's boyfriend breaks up with her, criticizing her colorful dressing before walking away. She cries, and her Aunty comforts her, saying the man who values her will come. Dinma's boss, event planner Elizabeth 'Liz' Dorothy, is infatuated with the wealthy Lanre Dudu-Makinde and believes they are destined to be together. Liz fires her previous assistant for embarrassing her and hires Dinma from a recruitment agency, unaware of Dinma's recent heartbreak. Liz assigns Dinma to coordinate the 60th birthday party of Lanre's mother, with Lanre's sister overseeing the plans. At a meeting in the family home, Dinma meets Lanre, who is drawn to her genuine manner, unlike the women who chase his wealth. Lanre drives her home, and she introduces him to roasted corn and ubê, a local delicacy. Lanre begins texting Dinma directly for her opinion, and Liz grows jealous. Liz learns that Lanre took Dinma home, and she fires Dinma, accusing her of betrayal. After losing her job, Dinma blocks Lanre and refuses his offer of a high-paying job at his company. She wants to preserve her integrity and avoid being seen as a traitor. Lanre follows the advice of a confidante and gives her space. Liz confronts Lanre about their relationship, and he rejects her, saying he is only interested in Dinma, the woman she fired. Liz dismisses Dinma's worth, but Lanre defends Dinma's unique spirit. His persistence moves Dinma, and she apologizes for pushing him away. They go on a dinner date, and he asks her to be his girlfriend. She says yes. Lanre introduces Dinma to his mother, who had expected him to marry Kemi, a family friend. The mother is won over by Dinma's colorful outfit, which reminds her of her own youthful style, and she approves of the relationship. She says that a mother's expectations and her son's happiness are rarely the same, and she wants her son to be happy.
