Ozioma's mother despairs over her daughter's failing grades, but the girl clings to fantasies of wealth through marriage. Rose, a city aunt, convinces her hesitant husband James to take Ozioma in, hoping education will reshape her future. The village girl stumbles into urban life, sneering at healthy food and quitting school after one day, claiming her head can't hold lessons. At a salon job, she insults clients and fails to learn, bringing chaos wherever she steps. James, however, discovers a comfort in her spicy village stew, spending evenings with her in the kitchen—a closeness that twists Rose's heart into suspicion. Consulting neighbor Kate, Rose hears a poisonous test: send the girl away to see if James fights for her. When Rose confronts him, James denies any affair, but Ozioma overhears and disappears into the night, returning to the village on a rickety bus. With Ozioma gone, James's mood lifts, and he begins cooking the local dishes himself, humming over the stove. Rose watches, the truth dawning coldly: her husband's affection was for the food, not the girl. Kate's advice was a mirror of her own jealousy, and Rose feels the sting of her deceit. Then Ozioma reappears, announcing she's back to find her prince in the city. James welcomes her with open arms, and Rose finally sees her insecurities as the real intruder.
