Storyline
Pressure from her parents to bring a man home before she can inherit the family business forces Ogechi, a successful divorce lawyer, into a desperate lie she calls "I Was Silly" — hiring her houseboy Ozioma to pose as her boyfriend for five million Naira. Ozioma initially refuses out of loyalty to his girlfriend Ifeoma, but Ifeoma, smelling a financial opportunity, renegotiates the deal to ten million and convinces him to go along. The pair head to Ibadan, where Ozioma’s charm and intelligence win over Mr. and Mrs. Okorie, leading to a staged proposal and a fake engagement that spreads across social media. Ifeoma watches from the sidelines, jealousy curdling as she sees posed pictures of Ozioma and Ogechi together. She crashes the engagement party, her accusation of boyfriend theft splitting the room and forcing Ozioma and Ogechi to confess the truth. Mr. Okorie, though disappointed, forgives his daughter but hands the company to ambitious employee Remi instead. Ozioma finds Ifeoma afterward, but she accuses him of falling for Ogechi and breaks up with him. Mr. Okorie offers Ozioma a legitimate job managing operations in the East, which he accepts. One last attempt to win Ifeoma back fails; she refuses to forgive him. He leaves a heartfelt letter and departs. Alone with her regret, Ifeoma realizes her mistake too late. Ogechi returns to her law practice, content. Ozioma moves forward, leaving the past behind.
