Storyline
In Friendly Foe, Jite, a driven corporate lawyer chasing an associate partner position, constantly puts work before his wife Gracie and their young daughter Bibi. His late arrival to Bibi's birthday sparks a fierce row with Gracie, and Gracie's wealthy mother Mrs. Doyle mocks him as a gold digger. Gracie cares for Jite after a diabetic collapse, and Jite shares his promotion dreams with his friend Kev, hoping the success will secure their future. Jite earns the promotion but Gracie dies in a sudden accident, and he spirals into grief, alcohol, and a work suspension. Mrs. Doyle sues for full custody of Bibi, hiring a lawyer and enlisting May, Gracie's cousin and household companion, to gather evidence of Jite's incompetence. May documents Jite's struggles, from burnt meals to Bibi's injury from a fall, and Jite leans on Kev's legal support and his desperate love for his daughter. The custody battle erupts into an explosive confrontation at the Doyle mansion, where Kev uncovers documents revealing that Mrs. Doyle's late husband left a substantial fortune to Bibi's custodian. Jite accuses Mrs. Doyle of greed masquerading as grandmotherly love, and May, torn between loyalty and conscience, refuses to continue spying and confronts her aunt, declaring Jite a good father. Mrs. Doyle retaliates with vicious insults, and May walks out and chooses integrity over inheritance. A fragile peace emerges as Jite returns to work, more grounded and present for Bibi. May prepares to leave the Doyle mansion, and she has reclaimed her self-worth. Mrs. Doyle, though unrepentant, allows a moment of tenderness with Bibi and promises visits. Jite and May share a quiet understanding born of shared loss and second chances. As Jite heads to the office, Bibi's innocent question — when can Grandma visit? — hangs in the air, a small but hopeful note of reconciliation.
