Finding Love

Doris works as a live-in nurse for Clara in Finding Love. Clara has dementia and often believes her late husband Frank is still alive. She needs calming when she gets distressed, and she dislikes noise. When Joe moves in next door with his two daughters, Cindy and Zoe, their loud play disturbs Clara. Doris goes outside to ask the girls to keep quiet, and the conversation leads to her helping Cindy with homework. The girls are charmed by Doris, and she introduces herself. They begin a friendship that grows into a story-time book club, and Joe, a software engineer, thanks Doris for all her help. He first mistook her for a maid, but he learns she is a trained nurse. Joe's mother tries to set him up with women like Esther and Tracy, but Cindy and Zoe reject them and say they prefer Doris. Doris is still healing from a painful past and hesitates to open up, but Joe's sincerity and care slowly win her over. He confesses his love, and she begins a relationship with him. Joe proposes to Doris, and she accepts. Then the children's biological mother, Natasha, reappears. Natasha had abandoned the family years before, and Joe had led everyone to believe she was dead. She tries to reconnect with the girls and asks Joe for money to go away. Cindy confronts Natasha, and Joe angrily orders her out of the house. Doris is devastated that Joe lied about Natasha, and she leaves, saying she cannot be part of the madness. Joe follows Doris and explains that he and Natasha were never married, and that Natasha left him and their newborn Zoe years ago. He apologizes sincerely and promises to be honest from now on. Natasha departs, and Doris forgives Joe. The family reconciles, and the children are overjoyed as the household looks forward to a new beginning together. Joe and Doris plan to meet her family and get married.
