City Girls

In City Girls, Blessing is thrown out of an upscale boutique because Yvonne, a wealthy woman, has ordered the shop cleared for a private session. Blessing loses her restaurant job after a male customer she accuses of touching her waist complains to the manager. The manager takes the customer's side and fires her. At home, her mother scolds her for being jobless. A woman corners her and demands repayment of a 35,000 naira debt. That night Blessing stops on a roadside to help a stranded motorist. She discovers the motorist is Yvonne, who recognizes her, apologizes for the eviction, and invites Blessing into her life. Yvonne gives Blessing new clothes, adopts her into her circle, and renames her Alicia. Nancy, Yvonne's best friend, remembers Alicia as the disgruntled girl from the boutique and is instantly distrustful. Alicia starts paying off her old debts with ease. Her designer outfits and glamorous appearance smooth over her mother's doubts. Chief Aaron, a wealthy married man connected to Yvonne, privately summons Alicia under the pretense of planning Yvonne's surprise birthday party. Then he makes advances and promises her money and cars. Alicia secretly yields and starts telling people that Aaron has promised her a car and a house on Yvonne's street. At a party Alicia sponsors, Yvonne and Nancy catch Chisom, Yvonne's younger sister, whom Alicia invited against Yvonne's wishes. Yvonne's group drags Chisom out, slaps her, takes her home, and berates her for lying about her whereabouts. Yvonne confronts Alicia, calls her a "senseless whore", and reveals she has spoken to Chief Aaron's aides. Nancy sides with Yvonne and exposes Alicia's fabricated story. Yvonne swears vengeance. Chisom apologizes and says she wants to go back to Aba. Yvonne sends her away. Shortly afterward, Chisom is found unconscious in a bedroom while two women try to wake her.
