Breath On Me

Aku overhears Derek telling friends that light-skinned women are superior, and the words burrow into her insecurities. Desperate to please him, she uses a bleaching cream that burns her face raw, the blisters a scarlet accusation. When Derek confronts her about the damage, he breaks up with her coldly, claiming the love is gone. Seeking comfort, Aku confides in her friend Nancy and cousin Kelly, unaware that Kelly has been dating a man she calls 'D'. Aku throws a birthday party for Derek, hoping to rekindle things, but at the celebration she spots Kelly's mysterious boyfriend—and realizes it is Derek. The double betrayal explodes into a wall-shaking confrontation; both women reject him, and Aku storms out while Kelly blocks his calls. Derek spirals into a drunken haze until a friend snaps him awake. He shows up at Aku's office to apologize, and she forgives him, explaining she has already moved on with someone who values her. At Aku's insistence, she arranges a meeting between Derek and Kelly. Kelly hesitates but eventually lets go of her anger, and the two share a kiss at a candlelit dinner, their reconciliation sealing the affair's painful end.
