An Unlikely Pair

Bankole, an older businessman with ALS, lives with his much younger wife Jane. He gives her a necklace and then stumbles, collapsing to the floor. Later he runs his logistics company from a wheelchair while his doctor, Dr. Samuel, orders him to rest. A meeting with Tula Construction cannot be postponed, so Bankole sends Jane, who recently earned an online business degree, in his place. She is introduced as the new boss at the office, and gossip spreads. Bankole learns that Jane has discovered he hid his ALS diagnosis from her for three years. Jane confronts him in tears and tells him he lied, and Bankole admits he wanted to protect her from worry. They reconcile after he tells her the last five years with her were the best of his life. Jane settles into her role as acting CEO. Her car breaks down, and Ayo, the new general manager, helps her pull over. They discover they are headed to the same office and bond over Nollywood movies. Ayo signs a major contract, brings her ice cream, and helps her with a mobile game. Dr. Samuel warns Bankole that his mobility and speech are declining and suggests hospital admission. Bankole confides to Samuel that he feels guilty for marrying Jane and believes he stole her youth. He reveals he had a vasectomy after losing his first family in a car crash and has lied to Jane about why they cannot have children. Bankole pushes Jane to make friends and live independently. At a work conference in Abuja, Jane and Ayo grow close and share a kiss after drinks. Jane returns home, cries in the bedroom, and is overwhelmed with guilt. Bankole comforts her and tells her whatever it is can wait. Jane begins avoiding the office and asks Silas, the driver, to take her to the library. Silas tells Bankole she has been crying and not going to work, so Bankole confronts Ayo at the office. Ayo tries to see Jane, but she bans him from her office.
