Adam
Adam is a tender, deeply intimate, and naturalistic drama that serves as the brilliant feature debut of director Maryam Touzani. Far from being a loud political melodrama, the film is an interior character study that takes place almost entirely within the warm, claustrophobic, flour-dusted walls of Abla's home bakery.

Storyline
In Casablanca, Morocco, a heavily pregnant country girl named Samia wanders the streets looking for work and shelter, facing cold rejection due to the severe social stigma surrounding unwed mothers. Her path crosses with Abla, a stoic widow who runs a modest traditional bakery from her home while raising her spirited 8-year-old daughter, Warda. Though initially defensive and unwilling to invite trouble into her home, Abla reluctantly shelters Samia for a few nights. As the women knead dough together and share their unspoken griefs, a powerful bond of female solidarity forms, permanently transforming their lives and challenging the restrictive patriarchal boundaries of their society.
