A Screaming Man

Set against the backdrop of the 2006 civil war in N'Djamena, Chad, the film tells the tragic story of Adam, a 55-year-old former swimming champion who works as a pool attendant at an upscale hotel. When new Chinese owners take over the property, they downsize operations and replace Adam with his own son, Abdel. Feeling deeply humiliated and robbed of his identity, Adam is simultaneously pressured by the local district chief to contribute to the government's military war effort. Penniless and blinded by resentment, Adam makes a devastating, irreversible choice: he offers up his son to be forcefully drafted into the army.
