A Forever With Numbered Days

Uvo and Bami love each other with playful devotion. They bring each other breakfast in bed and trade lines like 'I fell in love with you yesterday' and 'You already did, tomorrow.' Bami, an actress, is kidnapped during a production in Abuja. Uvo and his friend Kelvin raise a ransom, but an explosion ends the rescue and everyone believes the hostages died. Uvo sinks into despair and attempts suicide. April, Bami's best friend, stays by his side, forces him to eat, and helps him heal. Within three years Uvo and April are engaged, and April is pregnant. Unknown to them, Bami survives. She is taken across a border, used to smuggle guns, and escapes during a police stop. She finds her way to a hospital, and Uvo is called to her bedside. The reunion is emotional, and Uvo tells her she came home to him tomorrow. Complications surface. April is pregnant with Uvo's child. Bami visits April, who is cold and distant, and learns that Uvo and April are still together. At a dinner with friends, Bami reveals April's pregnancy, and everyone is stunned. Later, Uvo admits he thought she was dead, that he tried to kill himself, and that April saved him. Bami confronts Uvo in their bedroom and demands to know why he chose April. Uvo explains the false death report, his suicide attempt, and April's constant support, and insists he never stopped loving Bami. Bami is inconsolable. She asks how he can justify being with her best friend, and Uvo says April was there when he was gone. She declares a child changes everything and their forever was numbered. Bami packs and leaves despite Uvo's pleas. Uvo is left sobbing in the empty room, and Bami walks away.
