Somto, deeply in love with Kainene, proposes after learning she is pregnant, determined to marry despite his friend Maru's warnings about the financial burdens of marriage. Financial assistance arrives from Somto's friend Maro and then from Ruby, a kind woman who gives 50,000 naira and becomes a steady presence in their lives. However, Kainene grows suspicious of Ruby's closeness to Somto, leading to a heated argument where she accuses him of infidelity. The breach widens when Kainene witnesses Somto hugging Ruby outside their home; heartbroken, she leaves for her mother's house, only to be turned away by Mama Nene, who insists she return to her husband. As Somto confides in Maru about Ruby being just a friend, Chief Agu reveals the shocking truth: Ruby is his hired private investigator, sent to secretly aid the couple because Somto was too proud to ask for help. He apologizes and offers a new apartment and financial backing for a business, seeking to mend their fractured family. Somto and Kainene reconcile upon the birth of their son, with the extended family gathering as Chief Agu blesses the baby and gifts them 10 million naira to start a business.
