Storyline
The story opens in a modern Lagos home where Abby, a final-year secondary student, lives with Bukola, a project manager whose frequent travel fuels Abby's resentment. Abby believes Bukola is her elder sister, a lie maintained since Bukola's own mother raised Abby after Bukola became pregnant at university. Their household includes Mary, a loyal maid. Across the city, Tobe lives with his mother Nkiru, a shop owner who relentlessly pressures him to study for a medical career while constantly invoking his absent father's failures. Abby and Tobe are secretly dating, and Bukola quietly nurtures a relationship with Jude, a colleague unaware of Abby's true parentage. The equilibrium shatters when Abby discovers she is pregnant. Bukola, accompanied by Abby, storms Tobe's home and announces to Nkiru that Tobe impregnated her daughter, but Tobe denies the accusation and Nkiru erupts in grief and rage, berating him for mirroring his father's irresponsibility. Tobe spirals into despair, kneeling before his mother and later standing alone at night pleading for divine intervention. At the same time, Bukola confesses to Jude that Abby is her daughter, not her sister, and Jude accepts the revelation. Bukola then reveals Abby's pregnancy, leaving Jude stunned but supportive. Abby later collapses in severe abdominal pain, prompting a raw bedside reconciliation where she finally calls Bukola Mom and they exchange apologies for years of distance. Nkiru eventually forgives Tobe, pulling him into an embrace and affirming her belief in his future despite the shame. Bukola decides to relocate to Canada with Abby for a fresh start, securing school placements. Abby persuades her mother to intervene with Tobe's school to restore his revoked scholarship, arguing they were both children, and Bukola agrees to advocate for him. On a quiet stairwell at night, Abby and Tobe share a final goodbye, acknowledging their love but accepting they are too young.
