Trouble For Rent

Wealthy businessman Mr. Achebe grows frustrated with his son Middleton's irresponsible lifestyle. Constant partying and arbitrary firing of household staff push Mr. Achebe and his wife Lisa to devise a test. They provide Middleton a luxury apartment and hire Onome through an agency with instructions to frustrate him for six months. If Middleton retains her without firing her, he earns the right to run Middleton Enterprises. Onome arrives defiant, singing while working, arguing over tea preparation, eating Middleton's food, and experimenting with ingredients that cause him severe purging. Middleton deducts costs from her salary, but Onome endures on a friend's advice that she needs the money. Middleton's ex-girlfriend Sandra reappears, claiming they never broke up and moving in uninvited. Sandra slaps Middleton and Onome instantly slaps Sandra back, defending him. Sandra leaves, and Middleton recognizes Onome's loyalty. They bond over shared meals, football matches, and honest conversations, and Middleton buys her a gift for the first time. Later, Middleton overhears Onome reporting to his father that the test is working and he is changing. Feeling betrayed, he coldly tells her the test is over and orders her to pack her things. A month passes before Onome confronts him at his gate, revealing the full truth: his father paid the agency handsomely to place her specifically to frustrate him into maturity. She apologizes sincerely, and Middleton, moved by his father's desperate love and her honesty, invites her to lunch. They go shopping, share a romantic dinner, and when Sandra returns to insult Onome as the help, Middleton publicly declares Onome a thousand times a better lady and dismisses Sandra. Back at the apartment, he stops Onome from cleaning, confessing he sees her not as an employee but as the woman he loves, and asks her to be his girlfriend. Onome accepts, and they share a kiss, sealing their relationship.
