The Visit

Vivian prepares for her birthday in her luxury estate when her older sister Obiageli and brother-in-law Ogbonna arrive unannounced from the village. Their traditional habits clash with Vivian's modern lifestyle. They cook over an open fire in the backyard and gather firewood from vacant land. They even relieve themselves in the bush instead of using the indoor plumbing. Vivian is mortified by the smoke and the mess. Her live-in boyfriend Brian openly mocks the visitors as local and uncultured. He urges Vivian to send them away. Brian secretly schemes with his friend Shantel to exploit Vivian's distress, pressuring Vivian to sign a dubious business proposal document. The security guard Chris discovers the plot and warns Vivian. Meanwhile Obiageli and Ogbonna continue to disrupt the household. They roast yam in the kitchen and spread washed underwear on Vivian's cars. They argue with Brian over respect and hygiene. Brian physically confronts Ogbonna and receives a public slap. Vivian orders her sister and brother-in-law to leave her house immediately. On Vivian's birthday a party gathering turns into a revelation. A secretly recorded video exposes Brian's conspiracy with Shantel to defraud Vivian of her property. The footage shows Brian admitting he only stays for her money and plotting to have her sign documents unawares. Confronted by the group Brian and Shantel are denounced. Obiageli and Ogbonna declare they will not leave because they came to celebrate Vivian and will stay to protect her. Brian storms out while Chris the loyal guard confesses his love for Vivian. He reveals he is educated and genuinely cares for her well-being, uniting the family against the external threat. Vivian reconciles with Obiageli and tearfully acknowledges her sister's lifelong sacrifice. Obiageli abandoned her own education to fund Vivian's schooling. The birthday celebration resumes with traditional dancing and cake cutting and heartfelt gift.
