Storyline

"The Resurrection" is a bone-chilling Igbo supernatural tragedy that asks one terrifying question: what if the man sliding a ring on your finger died ten years ago? Ogbuefi Nnanyelugo is dripping in wealth no one can explain. On the night he “marries” beautiful Osinachi, he steps out of a white coffin in full wedding attire while a hidden shrine watches. In the land of the living, the bride’s family is blinded by bride-price and Mercedes convoys. Only Amaka (armed with Bible, crucifix, and screams) sees the truth: the groom has no shadow and smells of fresh graves. They lock her away as a madwoman and send Osinachi off with the corpse. In the spirit realm, the deity delivers the verdict: Ogbuefi’s ten-year loan of earthly riches is over. He must return to the grave tonight. But the dead man bargains—he will impregnate Osinachi and reincarnate as their son, cheating death for another lifetime. The price? Osinachi will die the moment the baby is born. Ogbuefi smiles and agrees. One life for his eternity is a fair trade. Locked inside a honeymoon suite with the phones cut, Ogbuefi finally drops the mask. A note slides under the door: “YES I AM DEAD.” He confesses everything Osinachi flees barefoot into the night, begging a pharmacist for abortion pills to “remove the seed of a dead man.” The terrified chemist throws her out. Defeated, swollen with a child that was never alive to begin with, she staggers home to a family now mourning the confirmed death of the groom whose body lies cold in the mortuary—while his spirit planted its final curse inside her. Amaka stands over the weeping household and whispers the bitter truth she screamed from the beginning: “I warned you. You sold her for money.” The camera lingers on Osinachi cradling her belly, feeling something kick that has no soul. Nine months to live. One monster coming back. Some weddings end with rice and dancing. This one ends with a funeral that hasn’t happened yet.
