Storyline
Miriam, a desperate young entrepreneur in Nairobi, faces financial ruin and severe pressure from her bank and overbearing family to live up to traditional expectations. Needing to secure inheritance cash to save her business, she teams up with her friend Pepe, a heavily debt-ridden theatre director who is running from aggressive loan sharks. Together, they hatch an outlandish, high-stakes scheme: fake a romantic engagement and stage an entirely fraudulent, elaborate traditional dowry ceremony to trick her family into releasing the money. However, hiring a group of eccentric, indebted misfit theatre actors to play her prospective "in-laws" triggers a chaotic, unpredictable downward spiral of lies and comic mishaps.
