Storyline

Ego runs a roadside restaurant in a Nigerian village, ordering around employees and collecting debts from customers, among them Chima, a cab driver whose unreliable car leaves him always short of the money he owes her. Beneath her sharp tongue lives the memory of Jack, the husband who murdered her best friend Vivian for helping Ego plan an escape, and whose prison break now hangs over every quiet night she spends in hiding. When Ego is found stabbed and unconscious beside the road, it is Chima who stumbles upon her and carries her to his family compound, where his sister Ada, a medical student, nurses her back to health. During that recovery, Ego finally speaks the full truth about Jack, and the film Remember Me turns her confession into a bond; she warns Chima to keep distance, yet the two share a tenderness that neither of them expected. Against Chima's wishes, Ego travels back to Abuja to reopen her case, believing she can keep the danger away from the people who sheltered her. There, Jack catches her, attacks her in her own home, and leaves her collapsed in an alley after she manages to stab him in self-defense. Informed of what has happened, Chima retrieves her and brings her back, but the act of mercy only sharpens Jack's cruelty; Ada is killed, sending Chima into a grief that curdles into vengeance. With a gun in his hand, Chima corners Jack, ready to end everything, but police arrive with a detective pleading for the law to take its course, and Ego, still wounded, appears to beg Chima not to let Jack turn him into a murderer. The gun comes down, and Jack is taken into custody. Months later, Ego and Chima meet again, and Ego confesses that she is pregnant, news that carries a special miracle because Chima had been told by doctors that he would never father a child. The two build a life together, and twenty years pass; they celebrate the twentieth birthday of their daughter with family and friends.
