No Escape

The film opens at Johnny and Andrea's wedding ceremony where the officiant asks if anyone objects to the union. A heavily pregnant woman named Obi storms the altar shouting in pidgin that Johnny impregnated her and abandoned her in the village. The congregation erupts in shock as Obi graphically details their sexual encounters at construction sites and hotels leaving Andrea devastated and fleeing the venue. Johnny chases Obi outside demanding to know how she found him as his friend Journey and the pastor look on helplessly. Obi gains entry into Johnny's luxurious home by charming the gatekeeper Paul and makes herself at home admiring the property and boasting to her unborn child about its future inheritance. When Johnny returns with his friends including Journey and Baba they find Obi settled in. A chaotic confrontation ensues as Andrea and her friend Tasha clash with Obi trading insults about class and legitimacy. In No Escape Johnny's friend Baba advises him in private that Obi offers genuine connection and happiness unlike the superficiality of his five year relationship with Andrea but Johnny hesitates citing societal expectations. Obi refuses to leave climbing into Johnny's bed with Andrea and provoking a slap that worsens the domestic warfare. The conflict reaches a deadly turn when Obi collapses in agony after eating a meal clutching her stomach. A woman in a striped outfit later revealed to be Andrea's associate Audrey watches coldly muttering that Obi has not seen anything yet. Rushed to the hospital doctors inform Johnny that Obi was poisoned and they saved her life but lost the baby. Johnny returns home to find Andrea and Audrey celebrating with wine toasting that they killed two birds with one stone. Horrified Johnny confronts Andrea accusing her of murder and attempted murder and orders her out of his house under threat of police involvement.
