Never Let Go

In Never Let Go, Adebanjo Williams, a former police inspector, spent six years in prison after Otunba Kola Briggs framed him for three killings. Otunba offered him a bribe to cover up his son's crime, and when Adebanjo refused, money appeared in his account and his girlfriend Ivory testified against him. His brother Kazim pulls strings to free him, and Adebanjo moves into the estate where Nene lives under the name Victor Okon. Nene, a singer and caretaker still grieving her late boyfriend Donald, slowly trusts him despite saying she is not ready for love. He forces officer Bonaventure Timothy to confess on camera that he is innocent, and he gets Ivory to record her own confession that Otunba bribed the police. Ivory needed money for her son's kidney transplant. Kazim warns Adebanjo that he is falling in love. On Nene's birthday, Victor ties up her father, Commissioner Damian, and uses Nene to force a confession. Damian admits on camera that he took seventy million naira from Otunba to frame Adebanjo, and that Otunba's son was the real killer. Adebanjo reveals his real name to Nene, and she is hurt and angry. He explains that revenge kept him alive in prison. He sends the confession to his lawyer, the case reopens, and Damian is arrested while Adebanjo is cleared. Adebanjo celebrates with Kazim on a boat and accepts a job in Kazim's company. Nene lies sad in bed. Later, she meets Adebanjo at a restaurant. He says everything except his name was real, and she admits she loves him. But she cannot be with someone who put her father in prison, just as her father ruined his career. She kisses him goodbye and walks away, leaving him sobbing at the table.
