Storyline
Sly, a wealthy young man, faces pressure from his traditional father, Chief Ben, to bring home a local, unsophisticated woman for marriage, a description that does not fit his modern city girlfriend, Jane. Desperate to appease his father and secure his inheritance, Sly confides in his friend Ken, who suggests hiring a woman to pose as his fiancée. They approach Obianuju, a loud, uneducated village girl who runs a small shop, and after much persuasion and a payment of 200,000 naira, she agrees to act as Sly's bride-to-be. Sly brings Obianuju to his father's house, where she immediately charms Chief Ben with her cooking, cleaning, and traditional values. However, her crude habits—snoring loudly, refusing to shower, borrowing a mortar from a neighbor to pound yam at 4 AM—drive Sly crazy. Meanwhile, Jane grows suspicious and confronts Sly, who tries to explain that Obianuju is just an actress. Jane's friend Lizzy advises her to wait, but Jane's patience wears thin as Sly becomes increasingly distant. The climax occurs when Jane shows up at Sly's house and sees Obianuju, leading to a physical fight between the two women. Jane accuses Sly of falling for Obianuju, and Sly admits to himself that he has developed feelings for her. He later confesses to Ken that he misses Obianuju after she leaves. Jane ends their relationship, heartbroken. Sly then goes to Obianuju's shop and confesses his love, despite their differences in class and education. They begin a genuine relationship, and Sly helps her improve her appearance and manners, though she resists changing her core personality. The movie ends with the couple sharing a tender moment in the bedroom, indicating they have embraced their love. Sly's father approves, and the family accepts Obianuju, who remains her authentic, quirky self.
