Storyline
Brand strategist Zoe meets client Obeito to pitch a rebrand built on her mother Nana's legacy. Teenage daughter Maya hides a fresh tattoo and begs friend Jada for permission to attend summer camp. At dinner Nana scolds Maya for phone use, refuses the camp request, and later erupts when she discovers the tattoo, canceling the camp and forbidding Maya from leaving the house. Nana later arrives unannounced at Zoe's home, criticizes Zoe's parenting and reveals Maya called her for help. In My Mother's Daughter the clash deepens as Nana blames Zoe for her teenage pregnancy and praises Daniel as the good child, and Zoe fights to keep boundaries. Maya apologizes to Zoe for the tattoo and for calling Nana, and they share a tender reconciliation. Zoe reconnects with Ken, a former tech conference acquaintance, who hires her for a rebrand and sparks a romantic connection. Encouraged by a friend Maya attempts to sneak out to a party but Nana catches her and humiliates her by comparing her to Zoe's youthful recklessness. Zoe returns late from work, finds Nana berating Maya, defends her daughter with a slap to the wall and demands the toxicity stop. Later Nana retaliates by calling uncle Gideon, and Zoe confronts Nana about financial support versus emotional abuse before leaving her alone. Nana suffers a hypertensive crisis and is hospitalized, so the doctor orders a stress-free environment and Zoe brings Nana home against her will. Nana refuses medication and insists on prayer-only healing. A pastor she invited attempts an exorcism on Maya and accuses her of a spirit of mammon. Zoe violently ejects the pastor, and Nana accuses Zoe of promiscuity and shame. Zoe then reveals that Gideon raped her years ago and that the rape resulted in Maya's conception. Gideon is summoned and his silence confirms the truth, so Nana is ordered out of the house. Zoe and Maya embrace as Maya learns her father's identity, and Ken encourages Zoe to visit Nana for closure.
