The film opens with Lagos aerials, introducing Kofi, a Ghanaian musician arriving with a duffel bag to find Sandra in a bathrobe. Both claim legitimate occupancy, sparking a physical confrontation. They realize a double booking: Sandra's friend was meant to vacate but stayed, and Kofi had paid for a three-month lease. Sandra, devastated by a lost job and financial strain, tries to refund him, but Kofi refuses to leave, citing his contract. Their forced cohabitation in My Housemate begins with friction over noise, cooking, and boundaries, driven by Kofi's frustration over his failing music career and Sandra's vulnerability. The domestic warfare intensifies through arguments over hot dogs, eggs, singing, and uninvited guests. Sandra's boyfriend visits, prompting Kofi to mock his baldness and question his legitimacy. A neighbor named Lizzy complains about the noise, forcing a performative truce. Meanwhile, Sandra's online boyfriend Mike, also known as Dubem, is exposed as a married scammer when she confronts his wife at his home. Back at the apartment, a mysterious man with a spare key appears, claiming ownership through Sandra, sparking a three-way confrontation. Amid the chaos, Kofi and Sandra share drunken wine nights. He confesses he is Edosa Ighodaro, son of a Ghanaian telecom tycoon, and came to Nigeria for love, not music fame. Their hostility softens into mutual respect and attraction, even as Kofi's online girlfriend Freda arrives, creating a love triangle. Freda discovers Kofi's intimacy with Sandra and confronts him, and he confesses he is broke, the house belongs to Sandra, and his persona was a lie. Freda leaves heartbroken. Kofi turns to Sandra, declaring his love and proposing marriage, revealing his wealth is real. Sandra, initially skeptical, accepts after he proves his identity.
