Joe, the wealthy but aimless son of a domineering mother, spends his nights drinking and partying while avoiding the family business. His mother constantly berates him for his irresponsibility, invoking his late father's memory, and Joe blames his cynicism on her alleged infidelity which he believes caused his father's death. The household includes Ifeoma, a devoted maid who cares for Joe during his drunken episodes, and Priscilla, an ambitious woman who declares herself Joe's wife-to-be and ingratiates herself with his mother. As Joe battles alcohol-induced gastritis, Ifeoma nurses him back to health and offers candid advice that prompts him to pursue a restaurant venture and close his first business deal. Joe confesses his love for Ifeoma and proposes a serious relationship. Meanwhile, Priscilla manipulates the situation by falsely claiming pregnancy, securing the mother's full support for their union. The mother, eager for a respectable daughter-in-law, invites Priscilla to lunch and pressures Joe to accept her while dismissing Ifeoma as merely a servant. Joe's resistance intensifies, leading to explosive confrontations where he accuses his mother of controlling his life and Priscilla of deception. Everything changes when the mother discovers Priscilla's pregnancy test results are fabricated. She violently ejects Priscilla from the compound, threatening arrest. Simultaneously, the mother fires Ifeoma, refusing to allow her son to marry a maid. Joe, recovering and unaware of his mother's actions, searches frantically for Ifeoma. He finds her at a friend's house and pleads through a gate, declaring his love and insisting his mother acted alone. Ifeoma initially rebuffs him, but Joe's persistence and vulnerability — admitting he needs her to believe in him — begin to break her resolve. In a final emotional confrontation, the mother returns to the house and begs Joe's forgiveness, admitting she was blinded by Priscilla's manipulation.
