In My Best Friend's Son, Bewaji films her show Sisi Motivations declaring she would never date a younger man, then argues with a security guard at her gate. Bewaji's mother Adenike arrives from Ibadan and meets Samuel, the 24-year-old NYSC graduate son of Bewaji's close friend Auntie Bosede, alongside Rachel. Samuel refuses to return to Ibadan, his attachment to Lagos and to Bewaji deepening. Fola later corners Bewaji in a bedroom, demands her phone and threatens her. Samuel intervenes, placing himself between them and condemning the violence by citing his parents' 27-year marriage without abuse. Shaken, Bewaji retreats and Samuel follows to comfort her, their emotional intimacy turning romantic.
