Mr Linus

Arguing over household finances, Linus claims a promotion that his wife Lilian doubts. He later brags about a gifted watch and, when questioned, lies again. Lilian confides in her friend Bena about Linus's compulsive lies, from pretending to know the Commissioner of Police to fabricating a hairdresser job for her. His lies escalate: he fakes a plane crash to avoid sending money to his mother and invents a car accident for his friend Sam to cover an overnight absence. While helping a stranded woman, Linus is later accused of rape by her and her accomplices, who demand 50 million naira. Lilian discovers the truth about Sam and gives Linus an ultimatum: attend therapy or she leaves. Desperate for money, Linus borrows from friends by lying about a sick out-of-wedlock son. He gathers the ransom, but when he delivers it, police raid the room and arrest the gang. Meanwhile, Lilian packs her bags and leaves while Linus is out. He returns to an empty house and frantically searches for her, pleading with Bena who refuses to help. Driving to Lilian's mother's house, he finds her and begs on his knees promising to change, but she remains unmoved. The film ends with Linus and Lilian attending a therapy session, where Linus admits his age and begins addressing his lies.
