Meeting Rocket

In a rural compound an elderly mother-in-law drags her daughter-in-law Ivy from bed, screaming she murdered her son through witchcraft and seized his assets. The older woman strikes Ivy and demands she leave the property. In a village Rocket eats a stolen chicken with a friend, his dyed hair and swagger marking him as a local menace. In Meeting Rocket the mother-in-law supervises a construction site, haggling laborers down to 5,000 Naira they mistake for dollars, and she stands firm when they quit and threaten her. She travels to the village and hires Rocket, offering 700,000 Naira to confine Ivy in a city mansion, keep her mad, and block any cure until she can extract documents and assets. Rocket negotiates 100,000 Naira upfront and arrives at the mansion with the mother-in-law, who fires the security guard James on the spot. They find Ivy bound on a bedroom floor. Rocket stays for the promised two million Naira, feeding and bathing her while monitoring her decline. Rocket oscillates between cruelty and unexpected tenderness, brushing Ivy's teeth and chasing her through hallways and cuddling her at night. His internal monologues reveal he has fallen in love, yet he fears Ivy will reject him once sane because of his criminal reputation and drug use. The mother-in-law grows suspicious of their closeness, insults Rocket as a gutter rat, and insists Ivy will never love him. Rocket confronts the mother-in-law, demanding she release Ivy for treatment now that she has the assets, revealing he knows the scheme. She orders him out, but he returns to Ivy's bedside and confesses the plot and his complicity, begging her to let him take her to a hospital. Ivy, now lucid and holding a framed photograph, confronts the mother-in-law in the living room. She reveals Rocket told her everything: her madness was induced, not divine punishment. Ivy breaks down, realizing her sanity was stolen.
