In the library, her friends Oge and Janelle suggest stealing Sophie's remote to guarantee a win. Teni is hurt that they doubt her ability to win fairly and refuses. On presentation day, Sophie presents first, demonstrating a smart robot that detects sound and motion, earning applause. Teni presents her errand robot, which she controls with an app, also receiving applause. The teachers confer and announce Sophie Brown as the winner, earning the right to represent the school and a scholarship. Teni breaks down in tears, and her friends try to comfort her. Alone in the hallway, Daniel approaches Teni to express his sympathy, saying he thought she should have won. She angrily turns on him, calling him a creepy loser and telling him to stay away, blaming her association with him for her bad luck.
