EMEM (My Calabar Wife)

Emem's dispute with a man over money ends with the man collapsing, leading her partner Joe to blame her for the financial mess. In "EMEM (My Calabar Wife)", Nonso films himself at a construction site, posing as a successful businessman, but a site supervisor interrupts him. Nonso and his sister, Kaego decide to find a wife for their father, Paulicap, who lives alone. Emem confronts Joe about his involvement with another woman. Their arguments become public and aggressive, culminating with Emem brandishing a machete at Joe's house. Nonso tells Emem about the search for a wife for his father, Emem says she would marry him and Nonso travels to the village to tell his father, to which Paulicap agrees. Emem goes to Joe's house to mock him and insults him for thinking she would not get married without him. She asks him for her money, but Joe asks her to leave. Nonso takes Emem to the village as Paulicap's new wife. In time Emem becomes pregnant but soon becomes demanding, complaining about the gifts Papa gives her and using her pregnancy to manipulate him into taking her to a stream late at night. Kaego scams Joe of money and he regret leaving Emem. He asks Emem's friend, Cynthia, for help to locate Emem's new home. He finds Kaego there and tells her father what she did to him and also what she does in the city. Joe begs Emem and tells her that he was sorry, but Emem asks him to leave. Eventual Emem gives birth and Paulicap calls his children to the village and asks out what they do in the city and they tell him. Papa and his partner successfully open a restaurant named Samfluence Garden & Lounge, celebrating their newfound success. Joe attempts to reconcile with Emem, kneeling before her in a dramatic plea. Emem, cold and dismissive, pours a pot of water over his head, humiliating him and telling him to leave. Joe is left standing alone, dejected. Joe's failed reconciliation leaves him isolated, while Emem remains unrepentant after publicly rejecting him.
