Nkem Owoh popularly known as Osuofia or Ukwa, is a legendary Nigerian actor, comedian, singer, and scriptwriter from Enugu State (Igbo). An engineering graduate, he rose to fame in Nollywood via iconic comedic roles in films like Osuofia in London (2003-2004), Stronger than Pain, and over 200 others, blending humor with cultural storytelling. Winner of AMAA Best Actor (2008) and Lifetime Achievement Award (2017), he's also known for music hits like "I Go Chop Your Dollar." Married to Ngozi since 1998, he has two daughters (lost one in 2023). At 67, he remains a Nollywood pillar.

EARLY LIFE

Nkem Owoh was born on 7 February 1958 in Amagu, Udi Town, Eastern Region, Enugu State, Nigeria. He completed his primary and secondary education in Nsukka before studying engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. During his university studies, he began acting in various television and film productions.

CAREER

Owoh started his career in 1979 as a writer at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), penning scripts for shows like The New Masquerade and Basi and Company. He transitioned to acting, gaining fame with roles in films like Ikuku (1995) where he portrayed Osuofia, a character that became iconic. He starred in Osuofia in London (2003) and its sequel, and Stronger than Pain, earning international recognition. He is also known for the song 'I Go Chop Your Dollar' from the film The Master.

Owoh has been married to Ngozi Nkem Owoh since 1998. She hails from Amagu Village, Udi Town, Enugu State, Nigeria. He prefers to keep his children's identities private and has two daughters, one of whom passed away in June 2023.
