Cupcake For Val

Reeling from her boyfriend's sudden dismissal on New Year's Eve, Anita turns to her friend Nkiru and accepts an invitation from Seniorita, her former school mother, to stay at the family home. Upon arrival, she discovers Seniorita's brother is Valentine—the same man she had catfished on a dating app months earlier. Valentine, an art collector nursing his own rejection, accuses her of being a fraud, and a hostile cohabitation begins. Their animosity thaws when Anita helps Valentine through an asthma attack, sharing techniques learned from her asthmatic mother; they bond over both having been left by exes who called them "too much." Valentine creates an Instagram page for Anita's cupcake business, which gains traction, but their growing connection shatters when Anita overhears him on the phone dismissing her as a dropout and not his type. She leaves without explanation, moving in with Nkiru and focusing on her booming business. At a food stall, a man named Chima begins courting her, appreciating her honesty. Seniorita's engagement party arrives, and Anita attends hoping for reconciliation, but Valentine ignores her, prompting a frustrated outburst with Nkiru. Valentine, realizing his error, orchestrates an apology. On Valentine's Day, he tricks Anita into coming to a friend's house, where he has arranged cupcakes and a heartfelt display, confessing his feelings and asking her to be his Valentine. Anita confronts him with a list of his offenses; he apologizes sincerely, admitting his fear of being a rebound. She softens, and when she jokingly threatens to list more, he kisses her. She admits she hates him, but clearly reciprocates. They embrace, resolving to try. The film closes with the couple kissing, surrounded by supportive friends and family.
