The story in Contract Of The Heart begins with Kelvin and Shindara, a young married couple who are in love. They work for rival firms in architecture and real estate. The film opens at a cocktail party where the couple banters about their professional rivalry, showing they are high-flyers. The next morning, Kelvin wakes Shindara with a gift basket to celebrate her securing a contract, showing his support. But harmony is threatened when Shindara’s mother arrives from the village. She begins pressuring the couple about having children and criticizes their decision to wait two years for family planning. A deal for a 10-acre development project in Oyo State opens up. Shindara’s firm assigns her to lead the pitch. Kelvin’s boss assigns him the same project, tying his promotion to Senior Partner to winning this deal. When they realize they are competing, tension fills their home. Shindara expects Kelvin to decline due to conflict of interest as she worked longer. Kelvin refuses, citing his career progression.
