Beyond Control

Gloria sells fruit in a tough economy, her retired police officer father Basil constantly scolding her for staying out late while she dreams of saving for school. Her boyfriend Valentine rapes her, triggering a hypersexual compulsion that drives her to sleep with multiple men, including customers like Papa Testimony and her father's friend Paul. Consumed by shame yet unable to stop, her erratic behavior raises alarms. Confiding in her father, Basil blames spirits and takes her to a pastor, but prayers fail. Dr. Alex, a regular customer, notices her distress and, after learning her symptoms, diagnoses hypersexuality as a trauma response. He convinces Basil to let Gloria stay at his house for monitoring and therapy; there, their bond deepens as Alex reveals he has always cared for her. Gloria finally tells her father the truth about the rape, and Basil vows justice. With Alex's support, she passes her exams and they confess their love. Basil gives his blessing, and the film ends with Gloria and Alex driving away, embracing a new beginning.
