Jude brings his fiancée Clara to meet his parents, but his mother Ifie is immediately hostile, criticizing Clara's age and accusing her of being a gold digger. Ifie forces Clara to do excessive chores and even deliberately litters the yard to make Clara look bad, while the father tries to mediate but fails. Jude defends Clara, but the tension escalates as Ifie continues her campaign of humiliation. Clara becomes distressed but tries to endure, supported by Jude's father and grandmother who arrive and criticize Ifie's behavior. Clara reveals she has missed her period, but Ifie dismisses it and suggests abortion. Overwhelmed by the hostility, Clara decides to leave. Jude confronts his mother, and his father finally stands up to Ifie, threatening to cut her off if she doesn't apologize. The grandmother reveals that her own mother-in-law mistreated her, leading to a cycle of abuse that Ifie perpetuates. Ifie breaks down and apologizes to Clara and the family. The grandmother also apologizes, and the women reconcile. Clara agrees to return, and the family is united. Jude and Clara embrace, ready to move forward together, having overcome the initial hostility and learned that love and forgiveness can heal generational wounds.
