Storyline
The movie takes place in rural Rwanda in 2012. Vénéranda, a resilient genocide survivor, dedicates her life to organizing and leading local community-led trials (gacaca) and discussion sessions aimed at fostering reconciliation between victims and the families of perpetrators. However, the delicate, peaceful balance she fights to maintain unravels completely when she learns of her teenage daughter's unexpected pregnancy. This family emergency forces Vénéranda to confront the boundaries of her own public convictions, while her sister, Suzanne, remains consumed by a desire for vengeance after witnessing horrific violence in her past. Told through an entirely female lens, the story explores memory, accountability, and the painful realities of women rebuilding their lives over shared generational trauma.
