A Danfo Christmas
A Danfo Christmas is a family drama that looks like a holiday road-trip movie but focuses deeply on its characters. The story takes place inside a Lagos danfo bus, which creates a tight and uncomfortable space where a broken family must face their personal worries and shared failures together. The film explores real struggles like money problems in the city, the intense pressure young people feel while waiting for university admission, and the long-standing cultural tensions between Akin, who is Yoruba, and Amaka, who is Igbo.

Storyline
Akin is a struggling Lagos family man living on the ragged edge of the city’s intense economy. A few days before the holidays, his life is thrown into chaos by news that his estranged father, Agbayomi, is critically ill in their hometown of Idanre, Ondo State. Desperate and broke, Akin decides to bundle his highly eclectic family—his supportive chef wife Amaka, secondary-school graduate daughter Tracy, and his secret-boxing son Justin—into his battered, commercial yellow passenger bus (a danfo) for an unexpected road trip home. The long journey through the country becomes a turbulent and comical obstacle course. As the mechanical failures of the danfo push them to their physical limits, they must survive internal family drama, an overbearing mother-in-law, and unresolved intertribal marriage grudges before they can even hope to reach the village.
