EARLY LIFE

Remi Surutu (born Remilekun Oshodi) was born on 14 May 1969. She began her acting career in the 1980s with early roles in classic television series such as The Village Headmaster and Sparks. She is of Yoruba heritage and built her foundation in indigenous storytelling traditions.

CAREER

Remi Surutu gained widespread recognition for her lead role in the Yoruba film Surutu, which earned her the stage name she is now widely known by. She has featured in numerous classic and contemporary Yoruba films as well as mainstream Nollywood productions, often playing strong maternal, authoritative, or moral-driven characters. Notable credits include, Surutu, Gold Statue (2019), Prophetess (2021), The Ghost and the Tout Too (2021), Memoirs of 4 (2018).
