The Proposal

In 'Will You Marry My Husband?', Victor is a married man carrying on an affair with Chika, a boutique owner. He loves his wife Idara, but he cannot let Chika go. After an accident puts Victor in the hospital, both women come to his bedside. Idara meets Chika for the first time and mistakes her for a distant cousin, so a tentative friendship forms. Chika's friend Yvonne warns her about the danger, but Chika keeps caring for Victor and prepares his favorite meal for him. Idara, grateful for the support, invites Chika for a drink. As the friendship deepens, Chika becomes guilt-ridden and tells Victor they need a break. Victor, recovering, is devastated. Meanwhile, Idara grows suspicious after questioning Victor's friend Ben and noticing his behavior. She confronts Victor directly, and he admits that Chika has been his girlfriend for two years. Instead of seeking a divorce, Idara shocks Victor by demanding he ask Chika to marry him. She reveals her five-year struggle with barrenness and her fear that his family will force a stranger upon him, and she believes Chika, whom she knows and likes, is the safest woman to bear their child. Victor is torn between his wife and his mistress, and Chika is horrified by the proposal. Idara visits Chika at her shop and tearfully explains her desperation and why she chose her. Chika's mother arrives, scandalized at first, but she warms to Victor when she discovers he is a young man from her hometown. After much deliberation, Chika agrees to the unconventional arrangement, despite Victor's continued misgivings. Victor's friend Ben warns him that the situation is ridiculous, but Victor feels trapped by his love for both women. The unconventional plan moves forward. Chika undergoes a medical procedure as a surrogate for Idara and Victor. In a hospital room, Idara hugs Chika with gratitude, and the two women share a joyful moment and debate whether the baby will be a boy or a girl.
