The Checklist

Adesuwa is still hurting after her ex Tony transferred her properties into his name and fled to Australia. A lawyer tells her everything is gone, and her best friend and roommate Bolanle consoles her with wine and movies. Bolanle convinces her to write The Checklist, a dating list: Adesuwa wants someone within 10 km, well-spoken and kink-free, and Bolanle wants seven figures and Beyoncé respect. At work, Adesuwa has waited two years for a senior analyst promotion that never comes. Mr. Mayowa brings in his nephew Nero, hands him the senior analyst position, and asks Adesuwa to show him around Lagos. Nero phones her for every favor, from laundromats to concert tickets, and she obliges despite her irritation. During a critical presentation, Nero takes credit for her strategy, and she confronts him. He apologizes with coffee and chocolate-chip muffins. Meanwhile, Bolanle meets Gbenga at a rooftop lounge after both are stood up, and they begin a connection. As Adesuwa works late with Nero, their hostility softens into friendship, and she tells him about Tony. Nero confesses Adesuwa fits his own checklist, and Bolanle, who has been casually dating Nero, steps aside for Gbenga. Nero recommends Adesuwa for the promotion, but Mr. Mayowa promotes Alex instead, citing company politics and a sexist assumption that she will marry rich and quit. Adesuwa overhears, resigns on the spot, and forfeits her last month's salary. Nero defends her, threatens security if they touch her, and later quits working for his uncle. Adesuwa invites Nero home to apologize, admits she likes him, and shows him her checklist. He reveals his own list from two years before, and she checks every box. They kiss and begin their relationship. Nero does household chores, and Adesuwa adds a rule that he must be at least average at Monopoly. He accepts and promises to beat her mercilessly. Bolanle and Gbenga stay together, and Adesuwa and Nero walk along a waterfront, hand in hand, kissing as the sun sets.
