Storyline
Benjamin and Fiyin are driving in Lagos when they see a beggar named Miss Clara asking for money. Benjamin feels bad, but Fiyin gets angry and stops him from helping. Later, Fiyin tells Benjamin that Clara is her mother who left her at age five for drugs. Fiyin lied that her mom died because she felt like the good mom was gone. Benjamin ignores Fiyin's warning and finds Clara in a bad place using drugs. He pays off the dealers, takes her to hospital, and brings her home to recover. Fiyin is mad and wants Clara out, but Benjamin hopes for change. Weeks go by with family prayers for Fiyin's miscarriages. One day, alone, Clara tricks the guard Ochuko to leave by sending him shopping. She steals jewelry and cash from Fiyin's room and runs away. When the couple comes back, they find out about the theft. Fiyin is heartbroken, saying she knew this would happen because her mom loves drugs more than her. Benjamin says sorry and holds her as she cries. "Saving My Mother" shows how addiction breaks families and the pain of trying to save someone who won't change.
