In Neighbor Neighbor, Mary Ikpeledike calls herself a soldier for Christ and treats her young neighbor Kai as a sinner. She mockingly calls Kai Skype, douses her with anointing oil, uses a megaphone to call her a prostitute, and preaches outside her door daily. The noise stirs up the compound, and the landlord calls a meeting. Mary's boyfriend Sunny tells her she has gone too far. Kai's mother, Pastor Margaret, arrives to look for her daughter, but she is just as harsh, so Mary and Margaret exchange numbers and Mary promises to keep the pastor informed about Kai. A fainting spell brings the two women together, and Mary saves Kai from a burned kitchen. Mary's choice to call Margaret angers Kai. Despite the rocky start, they grow close, and Mary advises Kai on her relationship with Yemi, her boyfriend. The women do a photoshoot and confess their secrets. Mary once worked as an escort named Sasha Bailey. A man named Jake from that life has returned to blackmail her, and Kai admits she fled home at sixteen because her mother abused her. Kai attacks Jake when he forces his way into Mary's life, and the two women grow closer. Jake reveals Mary's past to Sunny, and Sunny confronts her. Mary pleads, but Sunny breaks off the engagement because he cannot marry a lie. Meanwhile, Pastor Margaret reenters Kai's life and again attacks her, but Mary's earlier mediation makes Margaret admit her failings and ask for her daughter's forgiveness, so mother and daughter make peace. Kai and Yemi arrange a celebration and bring Sunny to Mary as a reconciliation surprise. Sunny apologizes, says he loves Mary and wants to move forward, and they embrace. Yemi drops to one knee and proposes to Kai, who joyfully accepts. The four of them toast to happiness, peace, prosperity, marriage, and salvation.
