My Pride Her Destiny

My Pride Her Destiny tells the tale of Mama Tobe faking illness in a hospital to trick her son Tobe into marrying Adaeze, a kind village teacher. She claims it's his late dad's wish. Tobe, a wealthy dreadlocked man from Lagos, resists at first, calling Adaeze a village girl. But the doctor warns him not to upset his mom. Soon, Mama Tobe "recovers" and they all move to Tobe's big mansion. There, Tobe is mean to Adaeze, making her carry heavy bags alone and treating her like a maid. He complains about her cooking, saying too much pepper or salt, and mocks her looks. But secretly, he finds her attractive and stares when she doesn't see. Things heat up when Tobe's friend Emeka visits. Emeka is nice, praises Adaeze, buys her clothes and a phone. This makes Tobe jealous. He warns her Emeka is a bad boy and stops her from giving him food. Then, Tobe's girlfriend Felicia shows up. She's rude, calls Adaeze a maid, and tries to throw her out by dragging her bag to the gate. Tobe stops it, gets angry at Felicia. He tells the truth: Adaeze's dad helped him get rich before. He breaks up with Felicia and kicks her out. After that, Tobe changes. He says sorry to Adaeze, eats her food and likes it. They start to fall in love. The big twist: Emeka's chase was a plan by Mama Tobe and Emeka to make Tobe jealous and see his feelings. It works. Tobe gives Adaeze a ring, they kiss, and everyone celebrates the happy end.
