Mr Priority

Tochukwu is wealthy but extremely stingy. He gives his wife Amanda 1,500 naira for soup and says crayfish and vegetables are enough protein. He denies their young daughter Kamara new church clothes, a doll, and a paid TV subscription. Amanda confides in her sister and friend that he is tight-fisted and controlling. Tochukwu micromanages the grocery list and buys cheap alternatives, including downloaded cartoons instead of a paid subscription and oversized thrift clothes. A restaurant date ends with him arguing over the 23,500 naira bill, and Amanda pays from her secret savings. His best friend Peter warns him that his family stinginess is destroying his home, but Tochukwu refuses to listen. Kamara falls dangerously ill. Tochukwu rejects Amanda's pleas to take her to the hospital and insists on bitter leaf and home remedies. He sends money only after accidentally transferring 400,000 naira instead of 4,000 and demands it back. Amanda ignores him, rushes Kamara to the hospital, and learns her daughter nearly died. News spreads that Kamara has died, and the family appears to mourn. Peter says Tochukwu's stinginess killed her. Amanda calls him a murderer and refuses to let him near her. Cynthia escorts Amanda away, and Tochukwu is left alone. Tochukwu breaks down and confesses his past poverty and fear of hunger to Peter and a counselor. He shows remorse, and Amanda forgives him. Tochukwu begs for a second chance, and Cynthia walks in with Kamara, alive and healthy. The death was a staged lie meant to shock Tochukwu into seeing how he treated his family. He embraces Kamara and apologizes repeatedly. Peter tells him the deception was necessary. Amanda and Tochukwu begin to rebuild their marriage, and Tochukwu vows to change.
