On her 28th birthday, Ivy is woken by her best friend Olivia, who cheers despite Ivy's gloom over still being single. They lament the pressure to marry. Later, Ivy's car breaks down, and Henry stops to help, calling his mechanic. They exchange numbers, bonding over the encounter. Unbeknownst to Ivy, Olivia had met Henry earlier when she felt dizzy; he gave her his number, saying she reminded him of his mother. Both women are excited, each thinking she has found a promising man. When Henry visits Ivy's apartment, Olivia opens the door and is shocked. The friends realize they have been dating the same man. During squatting, Ivy injures her leg, and Olivia wins the running race. The score ties, leading to a bicycle race—which both fail at because neither can ride. Humiliated, the friends argue fiercely and separate, their friendship seemingly broken. But after time apart, they meet and apologize, realizing their bond matters more. Together they visit Henry, telling him they both let him go. Henry accepts and wishes them well. The friends reconcile. Later, Olivia's coworker Nathan proposes at a restaurant; Ivy arrives and shows a ring from her own new partner. The two women celebrate their engagements, their friendship restored and their futures bright.
