Iju Ese

The movie "IJU ESE" starts with Amarachi dreaming that her mother pours water on Izu and chases him away. She wakes up worried. Her mother, Mrs. Obinze, is always complaining. She shows Amarachi many wedding invitations and says it is a shame that her daughter is still single while waiting for a man far away in Germany. Amarachi’s younger sister Uju also hears the complaints. When a rich bachelor named Ekene visits with many gifts, Mrs. Obinze likes him very much. She pushes Ekene to marry Amarachi and calls Izu a ghost. But Amarachi refuses Ekene because she loves Izu. One day Izu returns from Germany. He explains he was waiting for his papers. Amarachi’s parents welcome him. Izu proposes and Amarachi happily accepts. Her father does a background check on Izu’s family in Eziagu. Bad news comes. The check shows that madness runs in Izu’s family. His younger sister is mentally ill. Mrs. Obinze says the marriage cannot happen because it is an abomination. They call off the wedding and warn Izu to stay away. Amarachi is heartbroken. Later she discovers she is pregnant with Izu’s child. Her parents panic. Mrs. Obinze makes a bad plan: she wants Amarachi to sleep with Ekene and say the baby is his. Amarachi refuses and says it is a big sin. Amarachi sneaks out and tells Izu everything. Izu is happy about the baby and angry at the plan. He promises they will run away together — first to Ghana, then to Germany. The parents’ plan fails when Amarachi vomits outside the house from morning sickness. Ekene’s mother sees it and understands she is pregnant. She confronts Mrs. Obinze and spoils everything. In the end, Izu and Amarachi sit happily in a taxi. They have eloped and chosen their love over family pressure.
