Friend Zone

Nancy comes home and sees Desmond and Debbie asleep on the couch together. In Friend Zone, Desmond has loved Nancy for a long time, but Nancy calls him a brother and says she wants men who are tough and wild with tattoos. Desmond got tattoos and piercings because of her. On Desmond's birthday Nancy forgets him completely. Debbie stays with him and they drink until they pass out. Nancy thinks they had sex and starts a fight. Debbie tells Nancy she treats Desmond horribly. Nancy says she only forgot. Guilt pushes Nancy to apologize to Desmond, but he stays cold. Nancy then tries to push Desmond toward Debbie. She says she is too flawed to love him right. Debbie gets angry and calls Nancy selfish for arranging a match while knowing Desmond's feelings. At the same time Nancy hides a secret lover named Franklin. Nancy also faces a pregnancy scare that scares her. Desmond pulls away from Nancy and starts courting Debbie for real. He proposes to her and she accepts. The wedding approaches and Desmond spirals at his bachelor party. He calls Nancy and says he cannot marry Debbie because he still loves Nancy. Nancy rejects him hard and mocks their past sex as boring. She does not know Debbie is listening. Debbie confronts them both. Nancy doubles down and says the sex meant nothing. She says she craves disrespect in the bedroom, not respect. Nancy kicks Desmond out. Desmond drinks heavily while a friend yells at him for chasing a woman who does not want him. Nancy gets an abortion ultimatum from a doctor and realizes Franklin will never marry her. She makes a desperate play for Desmond. He refuses firmly and declares his love for Debbie. Debbie agrees to hear him out. They share a home cooked dinner. Desmond prays for forgiveness. They seal a tentative reconciliation with a pinky swear. Nancy moves out and hands Debbie a wedding invitation. The invitation is for Nancy's own wedding to Franklin.
