Fallen Star

Obinna frantically prepares a welcome party for his sister Nene who has just returned from her mandatory national service but the event collapses into chaos with late caterers and missing supplies. He vents his frustration to his neighbour Gideon's mother while managing the disorder. When Nene arrives the compound erupts in celebration yet Obinna pulls her aside the next morning and urges her to relocate to the city and stay with their Uncle Jude for better job prospects. Nene firmly refuses because she resents the uncle's past absence and fears he would claim credit for her success. She settles into an idle routine at home scrolling through her phone by day and dressing up to visit her friend Rita by night. Obinna confronts her sharply and recounts his sacrifices of pausing his own education and doing bricklaying work to fund her schooling. He warns her against bringing shame into the house. Meanwhile Nene grows closer to Ziko a charismatic but dangerous neighbourhood figure who introduces her to hard drugs. Their intimacy deepens as he professes love and promises protection but his gifts of narcotics pull her into addiction. Obinna discovers the truth when he finds Nene unconscious in Ziko's room and he beats Ziko with a stick and belt while screaming accusations in Hausa and Pidgin until neighbours intervene to restrain him. The addiction spirals beyond control as Nene suffers repeated overdoses each time revived by Ziko and his friends who debate whether to take her to a hospital or her brother's house. Obinna alerted by Rita races to find her. He eventually locates her barely conscious at a remote spot called Hadis and rushes her home where she briefly wakes but deteriorates rapidly. Despite Obinna's desperate pleas and Rita's insistence on detox Nene demands painkillers lashes out at her brother and collapses on the living room floor. Obinna finds her unresponsive checks for a pulse and breaks down in grief as neighbours swarm the compound wailing.
