Entangled

Ike lives in a crowded Lagos slum and cares for his elderly mother. He tries to withdraw money for her medication but a POS transaction fails and a pharmacist refuses to extend credit. He rushes back to their room and finds his mother dead on the bed. The loss shatters him and he sits beside her body for hours. Meanwhile Jessica ends her relationship with James after he dismisses her pleas for fidelity with casual misogyny. She learns of Ike's loss and tracks him to a construction site where he works odd jobs. He insists he needs no savior but she refuses to leave him isolated. She brings food and stays until he eats. Her persistence wears him down and she uses her connections to get him a steady job. They move in together and a quiet domesticity grows and Ike takes her car keys and brings gifts and they share meals and intimacy. Cynthia appears at a chance meeting and tells Ike she still loves him. She is married with two children but tries to restart their romance. Ike rejects her and says he is loyal to Jessica. No one knows that Cynthia is also sleeping with Richie, Jessica's new partner, and with the boyfriend of her friend Cecee. Richie confronts Cynthia at a café and accuses her of interfering with his relationship with Jessica. Cynthia laughs and says she will never let him go. Cecee discovers explicit evidence of her boyfriend's affair with Cynthia and collapses in betrayal. She throws him out of their home the same night. Jessica storms into Cynthia's house where Cynthia claims seniority over Richie and vows that if she cannot have him no one will, so Jessica physically throws Cynthia out. After the confrontation Jessica and Richie reconcile and their bond feels stronger. Ike keeps his new job and settles into a stable life with Jessica. Cynthia leaves in defeat and her marriage likely falls apart while Cecee kicks out her cheating boyfriend and faces her grief alone.
