Driver's Heart

In Driver's Heart, wealthy businessman Jackson hires street cleaner Maria as his live-in driver after she jump-starts his broken SUV on the way to the airport. Maria moves into the boys' quarters with her young daughter Kamsi, grateful for the stable income that has funded her children's education. Jackson's girlfriend Amelia returns from a shopping spree and resents Maria's presence, accusing Jackson of ulterior motives. His friend Henry voices skepticism about a female driver with a child, predicting disruption. Kamsi clashes with Jackson over riding in the front seat and being dropped at school, and Amelia's hostility grows. Maria's past surfaces when Kamsi overhears her telling her friend Chisom that she found Kamsi abandoned as an infant and raised her as her own. The revelation wounds Kamsi, who begins acting out. Jackson, frustrated by the drama, decides to fire Maria, but she resigns first to prioritize her daughter's safety after Kamsi goes missing from school. In the ensuing argument Amelia strikes Kamsi over a Labubu toy, causing a head injury that lands the girl in hospital. Jackson rushes to the hospital, donates blood, and confronts Amelia, ejecting her from the house. At the hospital Maria confesses to Jackson that Kamsi is not her biological child but a baby she rescued from the bush years ago, declaring she would never marry a man who would not accept her. Jackson is moved by her selflessness and begins to see her differently. His friend Henry encourages him to pursue her, calling her wife material. Jackson apologizes to Maria for his hostility, acknowledging the work environment he created. He invites Maria and Kamsi to dine at the main house as family, promising they can stay indefinitely. Over dinner he compliments Maria's potential, urging her to return to school and build a career before marriage. They seal a pinky promise, and Jackson vows to drive Kamsi to school daily himself.
