Seyi, a kind-hearted Lagos tech expert, sneaks out at night with a birthday cake and luxury gifts, excitedly singing about being a “lion in the jungle” as he heads to surprise his girlfriend Lady Xena. Shock turns to rage when he finds her in bed with Foday the very same arrogant, talentless musician from Sierra Leone he rescued from the streets and gave a home. Flashback: In Freetown, Foday is kicked out of a studio for being terrible and faces jail until the powerful and menacing Lady Xena bails him out—for a price. She now “owns” him, while his loyal girlfriend Bintu begs for his life. Back in Lagos, Foday shows zero remorse, smugly telling heartbroken Seyi "it just happened." He refuses to leave Seyi’s house despite being told to go. Seyi returns home to find the neglected, starving Bintu waiting. Learning how Foday abuses and starves her while wasting money on delusional “celebrity” videos, Seyi gives Bintu the cake and gifts meant for Xena, then helps her launch “Bintu Beads,” building her website and funding supplies. A genuine romance blooms. Foday keeps strutting like a star until Lady Xena storms in. He brags she’s there to sign him only for Xena to ignore him completely. She’s actually there for Seyi, the brilliant developer who built her NGO’s tracking app. She humiliates Foday, calling him a worthless "hype man." Broken and desperate, Foday crawls back to Bintu, who finally explodes: "Die!" She chooses Seyi. The story ends with Seyi and Bintu thriving together while a penniless, delusional Foday is left with absolutely nothing.
